Step 2: Clean and Sand the Locker Remove any hardware from the locker and give it a thorough cleaning to get rid of any dust or dirt. Once clean, start sanding the entire surface with 120-grit sandpaper to remove the old finish and create a smooth surface for the primer. After sanding wipe down the surface to remove any residue.
Step 3: Apply Primer Priming is essential for achieving a smooth and durable finish. Apply a coat of Prime 2 using a paintbrush or roller, making sure to cover all surfaces evenly. Allow 4-6 hours for the primer to dry completely. Sand the primed surface lightly with sandpaper to remove any imperfections, then wipe it down with a cloth.
Step 4: Painting Time Now comes the fun part! Choose a colour in an eggshell, satin or gloss finish. Apply the first coat of paint evenly, using a brush or roller. Let the paint dry for 6-8 hours before applying a second coat. Apply the second coat of paint and allow paint to complete dry. Earthen in an eggshell finish was used for this project.
Step 5: Finishing Touches Once the paint is completely dry, reattach the hardware. Consider adding new stylish handles for a fresh look. Finally, give the entire piece a final wipe down with a soft cloth to ensure it's clean and ready for use.
Step 6: Styling Your Space Now that your new bedside locker is ready, it's time to style it! Top it with a beautiful lamp, a stack of your favourite books, and a small vase of fresh flowers to complete the look.
